Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 June 2026
The Worst MMO ("we", "us") runs the browser game at theworstmmo.com. This policy explains what we collect and why. Short version: we collect the bare minimum needed to run a multiplayer game, we don't run ads, and we don't sell your data.
1. What we collect
- Account — the name you choose and a password (stored only as a salted hash; we never see your plain password).
- Game state — your plot, buildings, resources, toon, dungeon progress, fleets and leaderboard score. This is the game; it has to be saved.
- Technical logs — IP address, browser/user-agent and timestamps, kept briefly to keep the server up, prevent abuse and debug crashes.
- Local preferences — small values stored in your browser's
localStorage(e.g. light/dark theme, base-grid toggle). These never leave your device.
2. What we do NOT collect
- No advertising or ad-tracking cookies.
- No selling, renting or trading your personal data. Ever.
- No real-world identity, payment or location data (the game is free and the "map" is a stylised globe, not your GPS).
3. Cookies & local storage
We don't use third-party advertising cookies. We may use a strictly-necessary session token to keep you
logged in, plus localStorage for your display preferences. That's it.
4. Third parties
- Hosting — our server provider processes traffic to deliver the game.
- Authentication / database — if enabled, Supabase stores your account and world snapshot on our behalf.
- Discord — only if you choose to join our community server, under Discord's own policy.
5. Data retention & deletion
We keep your account and game state while your account is active. World One may be reset during development, which wipes game progress. To delete your account and associated data, contact us at the address below.
6. Children
The Worst MMO is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (e.g. GDPR/CCPA), you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data. Email us and we'll help.
8. Changes
We may update this policy; we'll change the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be announced in-game or on Discord.
